SheaMoisture is releasing an all new product, the Curling Souffle Gel on Sunday August 28, 2011 in their participating select Target Stores to help you define and smooth your curls!
This is a wonderful addition to the Shea Moisture hair line that is currently sold in Target, Walgreens, and Duane Reed stores nationally. I have TWO jars of Kinky Curly Curling Custard, whenever I finish those, I will try it lol
I live in Omaha, NE and I went to several different Wal-Greens and Target stores and could not find this product anywhere. I know sometimes it takes a few weeks to months before we receive products. I am excited to try the souffle because I am a fan of the curl enhancing smoothie!
yes Kirlisha, give it time it may be on the truck heading your way
please come back and let us know if you used it and how it worked!
If only I could find it. It’s only in selected Targets for now. Shea Moisture stated that more Targets will carry it shortly, as well as carried in Walgreens soon.
NaturallyMe , we finally got the souffle at our Target stores, on my days off I will be trying it out and will let you all know how I like it!
I tried the Shea Moisture’s Souffle and love it thus far. I used it first on a wash and go (I also used the Curl Enhancing Smoothie the first day). I love the shine it gave my hair although I also expierenced a greasy feel on my skin. Also I did my wash and go at 6 a.m. and later in the afternoon maybe between 3-4 p.m. my hair still had and felt wet but wasn’t (my hair was dry but it gave my hair a lot of moisture). I am going on day 4 tomorrow and have only used the Souffle on day 1. Day 2 and 3 I wore a twist out and loved the results. The only problem I have with this product is the greasy feeling on my skin on top of oily skin already!
yes Kirlisha I found that greasy part my only critique! check out my review
I tried this product for the first time, and was not impressed. I will return it to Target tomorrow. I try new products and run right back to Kinky-Curly, so I am done trying new products. I will stick with what has worked for me. TeamKinkyCurly!!!!
Hi, I just saw this at the target down the street from my job and I cannot wait to try it. I am currently wearing a protective style of french braids so when I take them out (1 week)I am going to buy it and do a wash n go. I will do a post on it. 4cnaturalhair.com

I am all natural and have been for quite some time… Just recently stopped straightening my hair with flat irons and Dominican blow-outs! So I had a chop in early June and tried everything from Curls to Miss Jessie’s products. I absolutely LOVE Shea Moistures Curl and Shine Moisturizing Shampoo, it has been a life saver and kept my hair which is multi-textured healthy! As I write this comment, I have just washed, conditioned and applied the Shea moisture products (Shampoo, Restorative Condition, Curling Souffle). I like the conditioner, left my hair very manageable with a natural feel, as for this Curling Souffle, it leaves much to be desired… It is extremely thick and very sticky (kinda made a mess!) my neck and face feel oily as well, not sure if this product is light enough… Applied product and sat under my hooded dryer, DID NOT WORK! A little definition, very moisturized to the point is it greasy!!!! Wont use again! I really want to use organic and natural products on my hair, but it seems that Miss Jessie’s Quick Curls is the only thing that works!!! Waiting to try Kinky Curly’s product line, every time I go to Target the custard is out!!!! :/
Any suggestions for a Cape-Verdean/French Creole/Native American goddess??? My sister and I are seriously looking for the “golden recipe”!!!!!
Peace and Progress
I just used this product for the first time yesterday. It works great with the hair milk and mist. I love the way my hair feels…not too greasy. I have thick 4b hair and I may have just found my holy grail. I was going to try Kinky Curly but this is cheaper and has more natural ingredients when you compare the two. Shea Moisture fan from here on out. Got to find the shampoo and conditioner next.
Hello ladies!
I’m a Mediterranean chick with crazy thick, coarse (yes…actually coarse curls), combined textured curls. I love my curls when all is working out right, never have I wished for straight hair. Since the 80′s, when i was in mid-school, I’ve always had on my shelves, what I call my “hair product cemetary”…I’ve tried every line, product etc. over the years, expensive & cheap. Guess what? Last year I donated my entire cemetery except for a few products:
- Kinky Curly Custard
- Shea Moisture line (Hibiscus products & Shea butter products)
- Alterna Hemp Texturing Glaze (even though it has some naughty ingredients
- pure neem, argan, jojoba, sweet almond, olive & coconut oils
(I mix them)
My routine depends on the crazy Boston climate i live in but right now I leave my hair extremely damp on a wash day then>
- divide into sections
- mix SM style milk w/SM smoothie and apply to each section (i never use combs etc. only fingers)
- then I apply small amount of KC custard or SM souffle (like this better than KC custard)
- time dependent I do either tight or loose twists (1/4″-1″)
- then lift roots up with those ugly, clamp looking hair clips. They do a great job of letting air get to all parts of my hair. My hair is so thick that the underneath can be wet almost two days.
I always air dry so usually wash at night 1-2 times/weeks. My curls look amazing!!! They look shiny, defined and stretched out with this routine. As the unwashed days continue I’ll refresh with either SM mist or my oil mix. My hair is super dry so I can oil it and it looks great. I use that oil mix on my skin too. 36…no wrinkles yet
What I came on here to say was that Shea Moisture’s new souffle is amazing! I haven’t found a gel-type product that works so well for my hair! Never. I don’t get that greasy feeling that others mention maybe It’s bc my hair & skin are both dry, but I also use just a little.
When I want my hair to be sex goddess, shockingly huge I blow dry with my ceramic, radiant heat diffuser/drier and my curls are tight and huge and the volume is massive (think big curly fierce Beyonce wig)
Anyway, just woke with my day 5 hair and I don’t have to do a damn thing to it…looks like I spent time styling it and all I did was sleep. Shea Moisture line saves me so much hair styling time & hair stress <3 it!
Happy Friday ladies!

I used this product a couple of months ago and I was disappointed. The product was thick, sticky, and left a horrible amount of residue on my hair. My experience washing the product out is a memory I won’t soon forget. I am still learning about my hair and the products that will work so for now I have a practically brand new container and I will continue my search.
I have kinky, notty 4b/c hair and this Souffle is the only product so far that is able to define my hair, plus give it moisture and shine. Best to use when wet and then twist up — to refresh later for twists, just scoop a little out and put over hair and then twist up. Beautiful, shiny hair. I do not get the same resutls with the smoothie. Also, love their Yucca and Biotin shampoo and conditioner line.
I’m in recovery from cancer my hair grew back thin and my scalp and hair was extremly dry. The more it grew out the more eager I was for a style. As recommended I’m not using any chemicals on my hair so I was looking for all natural products. My beautician recommended Shay Moisture! I began using the moisture retention shampoo and the volumizing conditioner, it brought the life and moisture to my hair. I also use the thickening growth milk my hair I saw immediate results my hair is much thicker now. Just today I tried the curling souffle and love it!! my tiny curls are shiny and oh so pretty.Using these products has brought life back to my hair and I feel even better about my appearance after losing all my hair from chemo. I thought I would have to continue to wear wigs and scarves until I started using Shay Moisture products. Its exactly what the doctor ordered all natural products, and its exactly what I needed for my hair. I now recommend these product to some of my cancer surving friends! Thank you Shay Moisture for helping me look like myself again.
I bought the souffle 2 months ago and i found it to be to sticky & tacky feeling. I tried it twice jic it was a fluke but the results were the same.My hair had a mild crunchiness to it and it didnt leave my hair as soft and smooth as their smoothie.i got some curl definition but found that id have the slather it on and it seems the roots dried out and didnt have that softness and definition that the ends had. It was kinda weird. The more i put on my hair the tackier and sticker it felt, and once it dried the roots were just pofy and not cute at all!
I dont have this experience with their smoothie which is pretty good.It defines my curls and gives me softness from root to tip without any kind of crunch. The souffle is very moisturizing as a light POMADE type of product, for smooth backs and the like BUT i wont be using it again as my all-over styling product. As a pomade i got great smoothback, shine & control…other than that i wouldnt recommend it.
I used the shea moisture everything, last night did an oil treatment on my very think natural after a hour I washed it out with shea moisture shampoo and leave in along with the hair smoothie. Then I used the Souffle for my two strand twist and sat under an hooded hair dryer for a hour low heat. When I was done it still feels like my hair is wet and every time I touch my hair I want to go wash my hands because of the sticky & tacky feeling. I can’t wait til I get home to wash my hair all over again.
