My Hair. My Story :Tamikca

How did you transition and what was your transition style?
I pretty much did the twist and curl technique I learn from www.curlynikki.com

short natural hairWhy did you decide to go natural?
I had been texturizing my hair for like a year and a half using mild relaxer. I didn’t really like the way my hair was more straight then curly so I wanted to go to a professional supply store and buy the proper product hoping that it wouldn’t have the same effect as the mild relaxer. After stumbling upon youtube and discovering all of the info available for natural hair it put me more at ease to transition. The straw that broke the camels back was my oldest daughter had a great deal of breakage because she had to swim twice a week. I had to end up cutting off all of her relaxer as she was just starting 8th grade. I didn’t want my baby to go thru it alone so I decided to do my big chop two weeks after her.

When was your first perm?curly hair
I got my first relaxer when I was 12 and I’m 32 now!
What are your hair goals? (short term & long term)
At this point I really just want my hair as healthy as possible…. BUT my long term goal is to grow my hair out to my butt while it is curly!!!
What was/is the biggest challenge you face with your hair?
As my hair gets longer the biggest challenge for me is detangling.
What’s the craziest thing you ever done to you hair? (permed/natural or otherwise)
The craziest thing I ever did was while I was relaxed was shave my head on one side and my hubby would put cute little designs in it.
What are your staple products?
Kinky Curly Knot today is one of my favorite products and the only thing that I’ve been consistent with since I big chopped.
What is your advice to women who are considering going natural?

Do it! Don’t spend your life worried about how being you will affect anybody else but you. I feel so much more confident, and sexy! If any of that is lacking from your spirit then take the plunge.
