Mango butter is extracted from the kernels of the mango which grows in the tropical climates of the world. Mango butter is a soft butter that has a sweet smell that is commonly used in soap making, skin care, and hair care products. Mango butter is similar to shea and cocoa butters in consistency but differs in fatty acid content.

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU SO MUCH for doing this post on mango butter! This is a butter that does not get the shine it deserves. It is an awesome alternative to shea butter, especially for those with allergies to latex. My hair loves shea, but because of the oiliness of the unrefined, if it gets on my face (I have oily skin) I break out immediately. Mango is just as rich, but does not have the heaviness of shea. It not only has all of the richness of it, but works very well for those with eczema and psoriasis. An really great head to toe combination is to beat softened mango butter with an equal amount of aloe vera gel and just a bit of sunflower oil. Add contents from a vitamin E capsule for preservative.
Hey butterscotch I jus wanted to tell you if you want shea to be lighter I have found that whipping it really really helps, it used to make me break out like mad seriously but it reaches a really cream mousse consistency. Love and light, Aurelie.
