Natural Hair Styles: Twist out

taratwistoutTwist outs are my favorite natural hair styles! I use this basic style as the base for a lot of updos and when I want to wear my hair out. Twist outs are great solution if you are like me and wash and go’s just don’t work for you. If you are among the many naturalistas who have more than one texture , twist outs allow for a consistent defined look and can reduce the tangles that wash and go’s sometimes produce.

Twist outs are achieved after two strand twisting your natural hair. The beauty of these two styles is  what I like to call the 2 for 1 effect. You can wear the twists simply overnight or  up to a week and then untwist to reveal a totally new style!

To achieve a well defined twist out two things are important, the product and the technique in which you twisted.

Tip: It is important that you twist your hair in the direction you want your final style in. For example, If you want to wear your hair with a side part as a twist out then part it while it is wet and twist around it.

When taking down your twists use oil to saturate each twist before unraveling to control frizz.
