Retro Afrikana Head wraps

CollegeCurlies on Twitter and www.collegecurlies.blogspot.com tweeted last night looking for someone to recreate this scarf style seen below.

Besides the picture being breathtaking i loved how the scarf was positioned on her head. So I took on the challenge!

Here is what i came up with…..

i used a very long silk patterned scarf

i tied the scarf in the back once. then brought the two tails to front and tied another knot. then i tucked and shaped one tail into a hump. and took the other one and did the same.

side view.

While I was playing around with scarves , I decided to create something with some pretty orange colored (my favorite color) african fabric I have had for years but never knew what to do with. I looked at Solange’s recent scarf head wrap for inspiration.

Here is what I came up with that I call Retro Afrikana

Regal

Retro

I love both looks and the best part about it is they are stylish and cutting edge but also great protective styles  and come in handy when your having a bad hair day!

Let me know what you think! or post links to pics of you with simliar scarf/head wraps

All of the styles look beautiful, even Solange’s. I hope that many women have the courage to wear a style that suits them instead of waiting for some celebrity to encourage them to wear a certain style. Do you,be you and define you. Here is a link to my blog post about the same topic. –>http://bit.ly/cRxaKb
